'NEW' Cava Jacket

'NEW' Cava Jacket

As promised on the previous post, here’s a first look at the new Cava Jacket which is earmarked for release for Spring 26. Here’s my mug in it for now. We have shot this with a guy I work with, Simon and it looks the business. I’m saving most of those back for release time, but there is one at the bottom.

This is an updated and upgraded version of our long sold out ‘Utility Jacket’.

This piece first came about for a few reasons - Firstly, even a few years after release I was still getting messages as to if it would be restocked and I started to think why am I not doing it again if there’s clearly demand for it?  Secondly and to answer the first point, I wanted to keep things fresh and bring out new ideas and not keep doing the same things. I had this new pink micro ripstop nylon purchased, but didn’t have anything specific in mind to do with it. I tried a version of the Finnegan (see below photo of me in my back yard) but felt it didn’t look quite right for that piece and have so many other ideas for Finnegan’s that would look so much nicer. I also considered a Bailey Parka (see mock up of this below.  Although the colour isn’t right at all it gave me an idea of how it would look) but quickly came to my senses on that one. I do think it would have looked incredible, however finding enough people who’d wear a pink parka was too much of a gamble and it’s already hard enough as it is without giving myself near impossible challenges. I felt a more cropped boxy piece would be best and thought about a smock. But then going back through samples and past releases I had the bingo moment of reworking the Utility Jacket that had been so popular and it being the perfect use for this fabric. I have an article planned on my favourite Japanese fabrics and why they’re so important to me.

Above: One of the photos I received of the finished sample from, Fran at The Pattern Room.  Fran and her small team are amazing and I’ll never stop singing their praises.

Above: Quick mock-up of the Bailey in pink.  I actually love it but would it leave me in a financial hole? Maybe, Probably.  you have to play these things somewhat safe.

Above: The Finnegan Jacket sample which didn’t do it for me.  This was a display piece at a Partners Menswear event in Sheffield.  A lady asked to buy it for her husband’s birthday who usually only wore black.  He came into the shop a few weeks later to say thank you for letting it go to him.

Above: Simon, a friend from work.  I’d wanted him to model for a while but left it till this shoot to ask him.  He started out with no experience and by the end of a 4 hour shoot you’d think he’d been doing it years.  Smashed it mate.
